Triller is a video sharing app that rivals tiktok, having had some publicity during the Trump adminstration when Trump threatened to ban Tik-tok because not it's China roots.
Triller as a video sharing platform hasn't been short of Scandals as it has been accused before of failure to pay Musicans for their Music. The lastest on this case a very big and respectable Music label 'Universal Music' which owns Musicans like Billie Eilish, Jay-Z, Selena Gomez.
The move made by Universal music label means that music from Artists like Selena Gomez, Bob Marley, Billie Eilish, Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, shall nolonger appear on Triller.
Universal said in a statement that they have no desire to work with Platforms that do not value artists
It accused Triller of payment withheld, saying it's shamefully not paying it's artists and such an act is uncalled for and it leaves the label with no choice but to call off it's music.
However the social media site had answers to universal Music label claims. It replied in a wordly statement "We can confirm our deal with UMG expired approximately one week ago. We have been negotiating since then in an attempt to renew"
Triller went on to describe those negotiations and accused Universal music label of trying to use artists as leverage so that they themselves can earn lot of money while they aren't caring much about the Artists.
Triller doesn't have to have a deal with universe music label since it already has individual deals with those which it calls relevant Artists. Those Artists are already shareholders at the firm so their is no need of universal Music label involvement.
It was not disclosed how many artists have exclusive deals with the social media platform
